Glendale Memorial's Diabetes Education Program, officially recognized by the American Diabetes Association (ADA), offers you the resources you need to help keep your diabetes under control. Keeping your diabetes under control means avoiding or delaying the complications associated with diabetes. Because we meet the national standards for Diabetes Self Management Education, we are able to provide you with group classes and individual consultations so that you can learn how to make positive lifestyle changes.
Glendale Memorial's Diabetes Education Program
Our program was the first in the area to be recognized by the American Diabetes Association. We offer classes in diabetes self-management, as well as individual instruction and nutrition counseling in both English and Spanish.
Diabetes Management Classes
This program is offered in a series of four group classes, each dealing with the various aspects of living with diabetes. Day and evening classes are available. Below is a summary of what is covered in each of the classes.

Individual Diabetes Education
Individual instruction is offered to the patient as well as to his/her significant other on a one-to-one basis, in the following areas:
- General diabetes mellitus education
- Insulin administration
- Glucose meter instruction
- Diabetes nutrition education and counseling
The Nutrition Program
This program provides nutrition education and counseling on healthier eating and can create menus, snacks, and restaurant eating tips just for you and your lifestyle. Our registered dietitians can custom-tailor meal plans with special dietary needs.

Diabetes in Pregnancy
This diabetes program offers comprehensive preconception, prenatal and postpartum care to pregnant women with diabetes. Individual instruction is offered to each patient by the Certified Diabetes Educator and Registered Dietitian.
