Incontinence and Pelvic Pain
Glendale Memorial's Outpatient Physical Therapy Department offers a comprehensive rehabilitation program to assist men and women in managing their urinary and fecal incontinence problems and chronic pelvic pain. Current research indicates up to 50 percent of women are performing pelvic floor contractions improperly, in some cases actually worsening the problem. Our physical therapist will provide a thorough examination and will develop a treatment plan to meet the patient's individual needs.

Incontinence is Treatable
Incontinence is an uncontrollable loss of urine or feces. This condition can be caused by changes in the connective tissues and muscular support system during pregnancy and childbirth, menopause and aging. Injury to the pudendal nerve and sphincter mechanisms can also contribute to incontinence.

Treatment options for incontinence and pelvic pain may include:

  • Pelvic floor exercises
  • Biofeedback
  • Electronic stimulation
  • Bladder retraining

For more information on ways to help relieve incontinence and pelvic pain, call (818) 502-2232.
