Keep Your Heart in Sync
Heart rhythm management, or electrophysiology, focuses on abnormal electrical activity in the heart, known as an arrhythmia. A heart beat may be too fast or too slow, regular or irregular. The most common symptoms is being acutely aware of your own heart beat, called palpitations. Other types of arrhythmias have no symptoms at all. Some arrhythmias are harmless but some can lead to more adverse outcomes. Varying heart rhythms can depend on age, activity level, medication and any pre-existing heart conditions.
The cardiac specialists inside the Electrophysiology Department at Glendale Memorial conduct extensive testing and offer a variety of treatments options to treat heart rhythm abnormalities. With one of the most advanced Electrophysiology programs in Southern California, we pioneered the use of the Carto XP Navigation System. The Heart Center currently uses the EnSite Velocity Cardiac Mapping System to map any arrhythmia. The EnSite system gives physicians flexibility in determining the best option for patients and helps reduce the length of each procedure. It also helps reduce fluoroscopic exposure as well as patient preparation and procedure set-up times.
