Decisions. Choices. New responsibilities. Having a baby - especially for the first time - can seem like an overwhelming experience. Rest assured, Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center has the answers to all your childbirth questions. After all, we've been helping new parents just like you since 1926. We can help you select the right prenatal classes, as well as guide you through your baby's birth - from start to finish.
In July 2005, Glendale Memorial was the first center in Los Angeles County to receive the "Baby Friendly" designation. This means we're certified by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) because we have positive health practices to promote breastfeeding. As a Baby Friendly hospital, we provide information, education and support groups to help moms breastfeed while in the hospital and when they go home. Moms can also return to Glendale Memorial and get help through our Breastfeeding Follow-Up Clinic.

Maternity Services is located on the fifth floor of the hospital, providing private birthing suites for labor, delivery and recovery (LDR suites). After delivery, you will receive continuity of care in our Mother/Baby Care Unit, where you and your baby will be given quality care by the same nurse, on each shift. Also located in the same floor is our level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This fully equipped unit provides high quality of care for infants born prematurely or who need specialized medical attention.

Our Breastfeeding Resource Center offers new and expecting moms various breastfeeding services such as lactation visits after delivery, lactation consultations and phone support. We also offer a weekly breastfeeding support group, "The Nursing Mother's Circle," which meets every Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m.
