All surgical patients being admitted to the hospital must go directly to the Ambulatory Care Center (second floor of the patient tower) to check in. When a patient is taken to surgery, families and friends must wait in the Main Lobby Waiting Area. Please sign in with the Guest Services representative or volunteer at the Information Desk.
When the patient leaves surgery and is taken to the recovery room, the nurse in Recovery will notify the Information Desk. Visitors and family members of the patient must remain in the Main Lobby Waiting Area so they may be notified immediately. It is important to know that the surgeon only contacts the Main Lobby Waiting Area to speak to family and friends. A surgeon may speak with you over the phone or ask that you be escorted to the floor where he/she will speak with you in person. If the surgeon is unable to speak with the family following surgery, the family may contact the surgeon at his/her office. The Guest Services representative or volunteer will obtain that telephone number for you.
If you leave the Main Lobby Waiting Area at any time, please inform the Guest Services representative or volunteer at the Information Desk so they will be able to locate you, if needed.
